Sunrise / Blackberry

I received a new Blackberry a couple of days ago. It is the Pearl model with a built in camera. Although the quality isn't good enough for print publication, it should be just fine for my blog!

I shot this picture this morning as I was returning from dropping the kids off at school. Pretty cool that a camera can capture such a nice picture of the sunrise.

Touching Experience (Hollywood Sign)

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was in LA earlier this week on business. I had an opportunity Monday afternoon to do a little site-seeing. I decided to head for the Hollywood Sign in the hopes that I could get close enough to get some good shots.

I ran into a nice guy named Carl who had just moved to LA to pursue a career in film (producer). He was bound and determined to find a way to climb up and touch the Hollywood Sign. I decided to tag along and at least get some good pictures of it. So off we went.

After about an hour climb we were in reach. I can tell you, this is a tough climb!

The previous picture doesn't look like much of a big deal. But it is hard to see in the picture just how steep the hill is AND how large the sign is.

We eventually made it to the sign and took turns taking each other's pictures with our hands on the sign. It was a "touching experience!"

It was an adventure that I did once and have no desire to do again!

What Is Real?? LA Shot

I finally invested in Photoshop. My intention was to use it to help tweak colors and maybe make selective adjustments to highlights and shadows. But of course, I couldn't just tweak... I had to learn how to CREATE!!!

I shot this picture on a trip to LA a few days ago. I was hoping it would come out more interesting than it did.

With a little bit of coaching on design and composition from a good friend and an excellent photographer, Kevin Barrett, we "created" the following picture by combining it with another I had taken on my trip. The picture is much more interesting now that we can see what the runner is looking at.

It makes you wonder how much of what you see in photos these days is real!

Gone Fishing

I took the kids out fishing this morning. We fished from the shores of Lake Grapevine, southwest of Flower Mound, TX, near Little Pete's resturant.

We didn't have much luck. Just before we decided to leave, I was able to snag a small fish. My daughter held it in her hand.
