Economics in One Picture

I am taking a couple of economics classes. A friend sent this to me. Sums it up nicely!

Kids Korner

The kids and I went to Kids Korner in Coppell last weekend. We had fun in the sun!

Stratos Greek Taverna

I had lunch today at a resturant in Dallas called Stratos. They serve Greek food. The food was good, as was the company. We went to celebrate a friend's birthday.

eBay Security Breach

I received an email today congratulating me on an auction I won on eBay. Unfortunately, I didn't bid in the auction. And even worse, I haven't accessed my account for a couple of years.

I contacted eBay through online chat. They were very nice. After a few minutes of looking at my account they text'ed me the following:

"Okay. It appears that your account was accessed by an unauthorized third party and used to place bids. We have already taken several steps to help resolve this situation. It is clearly documented that you did not place this bid and the seller has been notified. In some rare instances, you may receive an Unpaid Item (UPI) dispute from these transactions. If you receive any UPI strikes from these unauthorized bids, please contact us again and we will remove these for you."

I am super glad they are taking steps to resolve the situation. And I have asked them to close my account. But that isn't what I am concerned about. I am concerned with how this happened. Is there a security problem at eBay? Are other people experiencing eBay security breaches? What is eBay going to ensure our information and accounts are safe and secure. Is this an inside job?

In response to the eBay security breach I closed my account. However, eBay tells me that it can take up to 180 days to close the account. This is unacceptable. I will escalate the issue with eBay until they get the account closed.

In response to the eBay security breach, they are recommending that we change our passwords and that we should not use the same password for email, eBay, and PayPal. Good advice. If you are reading this I would advise you change your passwords.

Canadian Hockey

Congratulations to the Canadian Women's Hockey Team for winning the Olympic Gold. Pictured here are Canada players Jayna Hefford and Gillian Apps as they celebrate on the ice with beers and cigars. Some were offended by the behavior. As a Canadian I say let 'em party, eh!

Lake Grapevine Flooding

It is flooding again around Lake Grapevine, TX. The problem isn't as bad as it was back in the flood of 2007, but the water is high enough to shut down some of the roads around the lake. I captured a bunch of pictures this time and will try to shoot the same scenes when we get to our low water season. For now, here's a few shots from today.
